Baseball Game Preview: Fleming County Panthers vs. Rowan County Vikings

For the second straight game, Fleming County will face off against Rowan County. The Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Fleming County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Rowan County on Monday. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 11-2.

For Rowan County's part, they got a great performance from Jayson Ingles as he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. That's the most strikeouts Ingles has posted over his last four games.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Will Richardson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Rowan County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Toby Stinson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Rowan County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Rowan County moved to 17-10 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Fleming County, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fleming County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Rowan County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
