Basketball Recap: Lac Courte Oreilles Takes a Loss

Lac Courte Oreilles lost against Mellen back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lac Courte Oreilles Eagles were dealt a 69-27 defeat at the hands of the Mellen Granite Diggers. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 471st, while the Granite Diggers are ranked 200th).

Lac Courte Oreilles' loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Mellen, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lac Courte Oreilles will take on Winter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mellen, they will face off against Bayfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Bayfield sitting on three straight victories and Mellen on seven.
