Baseball Recap: Chen Takes a Loss

After soaring to 11 runs the game before, Chen was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chapelgate Christian Academy Yellowjackets. The game marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Luisito Cardona was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Cardona was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Those RBI were his first of the season.

Cardona wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Viernes, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. That hit was Viernes' first of the season.

Chen's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Chapelgate Christian Academy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Looking ahead, Chen will head out to square off against The Heights at 4:30 p.m. on April 7. As for Chapelgate Christian Academy, they will welcome Friends at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
