Softball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Cuthbertson's Winning Streak

If Cuthbertson was riding high fresh off their 18-4 takedown of Myers Park last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cavaliers fell 5-1 to the Weddington Warriors on Friday. The Cavaliers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Georgia McConnell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Alexis Juhl made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Cuthbertson moved to 10-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Weddington, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 12-0.

Cuthbertson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-2 win against Central Academy on the 1st. As for Weddington, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-1 loss against Marvin Ridge on the 1st.
