Pine Island is 8-2 against Dover-Eyota since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Pine Island Panthers will be playing at home against the Dover-Eyota Eagles at 7:15 p.m. One thing working in Pine Island's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 18 matches.

Pine Island took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They took down Kasson-Mantorville 78-63. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Komets are ranked 220th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Dover-Eyota was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 76-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Charles.

Pine Island will need to focus on slowing down Luke Meyers, one of several Dover-Eyota players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 22 points. Meyers' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jace Drilling, who had 16 points.

Dover-Eyota's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Pine Island, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.

Everything came up roses for Pine Island against Dover-Eyota in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 69-36 win. Will Pine Island repeat their success, or does Dover-Eyota have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
