Football Game Preview: Madison Prep Academy vs. University Lab Cubs

Madison Prep Academy will face off against the University Lab Cubs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.

Madison Prep Academy's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 50-0 win over Collegiate. Given Madison Prep Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Collegiate is ranked 293rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Landon Johnson was his usual excellent self, picking up 65 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 35 yards and one score. Another player making a difference was Dylan Reed, who threw for 100 yards and three TDs on only seven passes.

Another reason for the win was Madison Prep Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 6.5 sacks. Leading the way was Landon Epps with 2.5.

Meanwhile, University Lab won against Glen Oaks two weeks ago with 57 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Cubs claimed a resounding 57-17 victory over Parkview Baptist. The result was nothing new for the Cubs, who have now won five matchups by 40 points or more so far this season.

Madison Prep Academy's record is now 7-1. As for University Lab, their record now sits at 6-2.

Madison Prep Academy was able to grind out a solid win over University Lab in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 14-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for Madison Prep Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
