Basketball Recap: Hamilton Heights Falls Short of Delta in the Playoffs

Hamilton Heights and Delta squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Hamilton Heights had to settle for second. They came up short against the Delta Eagles, falling 63-37. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.

When it comes to explaining why Hamilton Heights lost, don't look at Katie Brown. Despite the final result, she went 7 for 14 en route to 20 points. That was a full 54.1% of Hamilton Heights' points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Rhoton, who earned seven points and 11 boards.

Leading Delta to victory were Addison Barnes and Jillian Barr. Barnes went 7 of 15 on her way to 20 points along with six assists and three steals, while Barr went 6 for 11 en route to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Barr is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last three games she's played. Olivia Marshall was another key player, putting up nine points.

Hamilton Heights has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. As for Delta, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 15-7.

Hamilton Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Delta, they will square off against Jay County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Delta is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.3 points per game this season.
