Baseball Recap: Dansville Comes Up Short

Dansville had lost five straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 5-7 to make it six. They fell just short of the Wayland-Cohocton Eagles by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-9 back in April.

Dansville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dawsyn Mistretta, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.

As for Wayland-Cohocton, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Wayland-Cohocton's side, Orion Walker made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Walker was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kameren Lantz was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ethan Bauer, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Dansville will venture away from home to take on Livonia at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Wayland-Cohocton, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Le Roy at 5:00 p.m.
