Basketball Recap: Scotland Takes a Loss

Scotland lost against Richmond back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Scotland Fighting Scots took a hard 54-37 fall against the Richmond Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Scots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 195th, while the Raiders are ranked 42nd).

Scotland's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Richmond, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scotland has already played their next match (against Hoke County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Richmond will head out to square off against Pine Forest at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pine Forest is on a six-game streak of home wins, Richmond a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
