Volleyball Recap: Athens Takes a Loss

Athens lost against Van back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hornets lost 3-0 to the Vandals. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-13, 25-17.

Layla Carnes paced Athens' offense, picking up six kills. Carnes got some help from Chloe Coker and her seven assists. Charli Wilmeth controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Athens' loss dropped their record down to 12-18. As for Van, they are on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 22 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season.

Athens wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Neches on the 3rd. As for Van, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Mabank on the 3rd.
