League recap: Avon Old Farms falls to upstart Brunswick

Brunswick scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Avon Old Farms, 42-35. At the time, the Beavers was ranked 21st in the state, while the Bruins was 44th.

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Brunswick, who took down 21st ranked Avon Old Farms, 42-35.

Austin Whipple and Leon Cummings gave Salisbury School a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Whipple threw for 108 yards and one touchdown, while Cummings ran for 111 yards. Teammate Shawahl Abdur-Rahman added to the ground attack by rushing for 97 yards.

David Berment was the best wideout in Erickson this week as Taft beat Deerfield Academy. Berment racked up six receptions for 119 yards. Nick LaSpada helped Taft's passing attack out by catching six balls for 54 yards.

The Big Red's Tim Drakeley and Berment have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Drakeley has thrown for 492 yards this season, while Berment, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 16 catches for 344 yards. The Crimson Knights' Cummings leads the league in rushing yards with 318.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Kent School takes on Jarrett Shine's team. At the moment, Kent School is in third, while the Bruins are in fifth.

Abdur-Rahman of Salisbury School ran for the longest rushing play in Erickson this season against Berkshire School last week.
