Football Game Preview: DeLand Bulldogs vs. University Titans + Official Tickets

The DeLand Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the University Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (DeLand has seven straight victories, University has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs last Friday. DeLand took their matchup with ease, bagging a 49-21 win over Flagler Palm Coast. With DeLand ahead 21-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Marceles Carey produced another solid effort rushing for 166 yards and two scores on only eight carries. Ladamion Bletcher was another key player, rushing for 68 yards and a pair of TDs on only five carries.

DeLand didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Flagler Palm Coast to a completion percentage of just 42.9%. The team can thank Taihj Moore for the heroic effort on defense: he. DeLand has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.64 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.64 in their last three games.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when University and Oviedo meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Titans took a blow against the Lions, falling 55-7. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Lions are ranked 108th).

DeLand's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for University, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: DeLand has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 422.4 total yards per game. It's a different story for University, though, as they've been averaging only 248.4 total yards. Will DeLand be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Titans flip the script?

DeLand suffered a grim 55-35 defeat to University in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
