Football Recap: Morehead Falls to Northeast Guilford in First Game of Season

Morehead unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Northeast Guilford Rams and fell 46-0. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost four in a row.

Northeast Guilford got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was JaQuez Crawford out in front who threw for 185 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes. Elijiah Jones helped Crawford out on the ground, rushing for 52 yards and one TD on only six carries, while also picking up 40 receiving yards.

Morehead didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 23-0 defeat against Providence Grove on the 29th. As for Northeast Guilford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 20-7 victory against Eastern Alamance on the 29th.
