Baseball Game Preview: Columbine Rebels vs. Valor Christian Eagles

For the second straight game, Columbine will face off against Valor Christian. The Rebels will host the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Columbine's offense. They fell just short of Valor Christian by a score of 2-0 on Saturday. The Rebels have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

For Valor Christian's part, Sennon Lawrence looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Lawrence also tossed two walks, which is notable because the Eagles are 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Valor Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cody Dean, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Dean has brought in this season.

The victory (which was Valor Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 5-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Columbine, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-8.
