Baseball Recap: Ralston Comes Up Short

After flying high against Nebraska City on Thursday, Ralston came back down to earth. The Rams fell just short of the Hastings Tigers by a score of 12-10 on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Ralston's defeat dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Hastings, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season.

Ralston and Hastings are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Rams will challenge Gross Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Ralston surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hastings, they will face off against Skutt Catholic at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The SkyHawks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
