Basketball Game Preview: Flanagan Falcons vs. Western Wildcats

Flanagan hasn't had much luck against Western recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Flanagan Falcons just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Western Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Flanagan is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season.

On Tuesday, Flanagan was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-53 to Piper. While the Falcons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bengals 20-11 in the first quarter.

Flanagan's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jason Carias, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Carias, who put up nine points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Western). They breezed by Nova to the tune of 80-48 on Monday. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season.

The win was the fifth in a row for Western, bringing their record for this year to 14-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Flanagan, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Flanagan took a serious blow against Western in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 95-39. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Flanagan was down 65-20.
