Volleyball Recap: Pecos Takes a Loss

Pecos lost against Tucumcari back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Panthers fell just short of the Rattlers by a score of 3-2. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Pecos sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-27, 25-21, 19-25, 15-9.

Tucumcari's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Esperanza Martinez led the charge by getting 21 digs. Those 21 digs gave Martinez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Melanie Otero, who had 30 assists and two blocks.

Pecos' loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Tucumcari, the win snapped their losing streak at four matches and leaves them with a 7-8 record.

Pecos has already played their next match (against Estancia), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Tucumcari, they will welcome Raton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
