Baseball Recap: Normangee Has No Trouble Against Cushing

Normangee extended their postseason success on Saturday against Cushing. They blew past the Bearkats 11-3. Considering the Panthers have won nine matchups by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Luis Garcia and Wyatt Kimich were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Garcia tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Meanwhile, Kimich tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Garcia went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Kimich went 2-for-6 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Normangee let Seth Taylor and Eduardo Garcia run wild. Taylor went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Garcia got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave Taylor a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Marshall Harris, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Normangee's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Cushing, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Normangee will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bearkats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
