Baseball Recap: Sun Valley Starts off Right with Win over Parkwood

Sun Valley took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. They never let the Parkwood Wolf Pack get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Wolf Pack: they've now won four in a row.

Keller Weaver looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Brian Devereaux and Jessen Copeland did most of the damage at the plate: Devereaux scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Copeland went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Connor Monaghan, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Parkwood is on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Sun Valley will square off against Butler at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Parkwood, they will venture away from home to challenge Ballantyne Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
