Baseball Game Preview: Northside Mustangs vs. Mather Rangers

For the second straight game, Northside will face off against Mather. The Mustangs will head out to face off against the Rangers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Northside had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Mather on Friday. The Mustangs blew past the Rangers 13-3. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Jesse Nick was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025. Rowan Yen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.

Northside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mather only posted an OBP of .304.

Northside pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Mather, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-5.

Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northside hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Mather struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
