Basketball Recap: East Wake Academy Skates Past Research Triangle with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Wake Academy). They claimed a resounding 57-15 win over the Research Triangle Raptors. The Eagles pushed the score to 52-11 by the end of the third, a deficit the Raptors had no chance of recovering from.

East Wake Academy was led to victory by Emma Roche and Leila Gonzalez. Roche went 14 of 18 on her way to 29 points along with eight rebounds and six blocks, while Gonzalez went 8 for 13 on her way to 16 points in addition to eight assists and eight steals. Roche is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Butler, who posted five points and four steals.

East Wake Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

The victory made it two in a row for East Wake Academy and bumps their season record up to 6-2. As for Research Triangle, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

East Wake Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-13 win against American Leadership Academy-Johnston on the 16th. Research Triangle and Discovery Charter School will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th.
