Football Recap: Lake Travis Piles Up the Points Against Midland Legacy + How To Watch

Lake Travis extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 3-0. They blew past the Midland Legacy Rebels 59-13. The Cavaliers pushed the score to 52-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rebels had no chance of recovering from.

Vann Hopping was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 171 yards and four scores on only 13 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 58 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Lark Sidle, who picked up 73 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lake Travis was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 273 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Midland Legacy only rushed for 125 rushing yards.

Lake Travis didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ben Soules and Teddy Lofgren. Soules is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season.

As for Midland Legacy, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Lake Travis is ranked eighth).

Hayes Hamm and Ja'Braylen Anders certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Hamm gained 132 total yards and a touchdown, while Anders picked up 36 receiving yards and one TD.

Lake Travis didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-6 victory against San Marcos on the 19th. As for Midland Legacy, they have also already played their next match, a 42-28 win against Abilene on the 19th.
