Baseball Recap: Watsonville Takes a Loss

Watsonville scored the most runs they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against the Greenfield Bruins, falling 15-7. The Wildcatz haven't had much luck with the Bruins recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Patrick Miller - Brown made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also put up two hits, which were his first of the season. Gabriel Lara was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Even though they lost, Watsonville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Watsonville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Greenfield, the victory (which was their seventh in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Watsonville will head out to face off against Scotts Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Watsonville has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. Greenfield will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on North Monterey County at 4:00 p.m. on March 26th.
