Baseball Recap: Eastern Comes Up Short

Warren hit Eastern with a five-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-4 last Monday.

Eastern got a good showing from Dawson King, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. King has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Eastern saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Clayton Moore, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Moore is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played.

Eastern's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Warren, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-11-1.

Looking ahead, Eastern will challenge Fairfield Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Warren, they will host Parkersburg at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
