Baseball Game Preview: Hubbertville Lions vs. Lynn Bears

Hubbertville hasn't had much luck against Lynn recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Hubbertville Lions will head out to take on the Lynn Bears at 12:00 p.m.

Hubbertville came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Winfield, falling 9-2.

Cole Brand was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Lynn came tearing into Thursday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Red Raiders with a sharp 16-6 win. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by nine runs or more this season.

Lynn got a massive performance out of Laythen Uptain, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Uptain is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Austin Dodd, who scored two runs and stole Five bases. while going 2-for-3.

Lynn pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Hubbertville, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Hubbertville suffered a grim 10-4 defeat to Lynn in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Hubbertville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
