Softball Game Preview: Midway Green Wave vs. Loudon Redskins

The Midway Green Wave will face off against the Loudon Redskins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Midway is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Oakdale on Monday by a score of 13-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Green Wave not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25, 2024 (when they won 13-3).

Lorelai Langley was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kiersten Ruffner, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Midway kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.

Meanwhile, Loudon hadn't done well against Lenoir City recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Redskins had just enough and edged out the Panthers 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Redskins.

Loudon's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Midway, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-13.

Midway beat Loudon 9-6 in their previous meeting last Monday. Will the Green Wave repeat their success, or do the Redskins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
