Softball Recap: Haywood Drops Highest Score of Season Against Lakeland Preparatory

Haywood scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Lakeland Preparatory Lions by a score of 16-15. The Tomcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 10-0.

Haywood got a massive performance out of Karly Young, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was Young's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Desteny Bond, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Haywood's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Lakeland Preparatory, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Haywood will take on Fayette Ware at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.64 runs per game on average), something the Tomcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. Lakeland Preparatory does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
