Basketball Game Preview: Boyd Yellowjackets vs. Ponder Lions

Boyd is 0-9 against Ponder since January of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Boyd Yellowjackets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ponder Lions at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Boyd lost to Callisburg on the road by a 76-60 margin. The Yellowjackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Boyd got top-tier performance from Myles Richardson, who posted 41 points. That was a full 68.3% of Boyd's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Ponder took on Pilot Point on Friday. Ponder walked away with a 56-45 victory over Pilot Point. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Bearcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Ponder's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points over those games. As for Boyd, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-23.
