Volleyball Recap: Northeastern Falls Short of Governor Mifflin in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Northeastern can now relate to. They fell just short of the Governor Mifflin Mustangs by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 last Friday.

Northeastern's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jared Shirk, who had 31 digs and two assists, and Hugh Rogers, who had 18 kills, 17 digs, and two blocks. Rogers has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 18 times he's played.

Northeastern has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 28-13-8 record this season. As for Governor Mifflin, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-1.

Northeastern does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Governor Mifflin, they will take on Cumberland Valley on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
