Game recap: Winning streak over as Brophy College Prep defeats Westview

Brophy College Prep (Phoenix, Ariz.) snapped Westview (Avondale, Ariz.)'s 5-game winning streak, with a 35-21 victory on Saturday.

The Broncos were up 27-14 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by Clarence Clark in the second quarter.

Brophy College Prep saw its 13-point halftime lead fall to six entering the fourth.

BCP's standout player in the win was Marche Dennard. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns and caught one touchdown. He has now scored 15 touchdowns on the season.



Kordell Provchy made a difference for the Knights. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for two touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to seven on the year.

Westview came in giving up 13.8 points per game this season. WHS struggled against the Phoenix school, which came in averaging 40.4 points per game.

When the two teams played each other last season, the Broncos came away with a 24-21 victory.

The defeat comes as a step back for Westview, which notched a 64-20 victory over St. Mary's in its previous outing. With the win Brophy College Prep extended its winning streak to four games.

Westview (5-2) goes up against Hayden in a I Section I game matchup next week, while Brophy College Prep (6-2) locks horns with St. Mary's in a non-conference game.
