Volleyball Game Preview: Duchesne Cardinals vs. Kearney Bearcats

The Duchesne Cardinals will venture away from home to take on the Kearney Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Duchesne lost 3-0 to Northwest on Thursday. The Cardinals have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

The final score came out to 25-12, 25-13, 25-10.

If Lincoln Northeast wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Kearney, they should've done a better job of containing Alyssa Bauer. The Bearcats came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 2-0 on Saturday thanks in part to Bauer, who had 11 digs and two assists. She has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more digs the last 11 times she's played.

Kearney easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-16.

Kearney has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. As for Duchesne, their loss dropped their record down to 8-16.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Duchesne hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 4.3 blocks per game. It's a different story for Kearney, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 blocks. Given Duchesne's sizable advantage in that area, the Bearcats will need to find a way to close that gap.

Duchesne came out on top in a nail-biter against Kearney in their previous meeting back in September of 2020, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
