Basketball Game Preview: Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons vs. Eureka Hornets

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley hasn't had much luck against Eureka recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons are taking a road trip to face off against the Eureka Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

If Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley beats Eureka with 58 points on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Paxton-Buckley-Loda 58-30. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Panthers are ranked 615th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Eureka humbled Fieldcrest with a 66-32 victory.

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Eureka, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
