Basketball Game Preview: Potomac Senior Panthers vs. Westfield Bulldogs

Having just played yesterday, the Potomac Senior Panthers will jump right back in to play the Westfield Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Potomac Senior's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.

Potomac Senior is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Freedom: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Potomac Senior blew Freedom out of the water with a 79-48 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-22.

Potomac Senior found their leader in sophomore Amani Asare, who went 6 of 11 en route to 19 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lance Aiden Logan, who posted 12 points.

Potomac Senior was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, Westfield hadn't done well against James Madison recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Westfield walked away with a 54-45 victory over James Madison. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Warhawks are ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Westfield pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Potomac Senior, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
