Softball Recap: Riverside Takes a Loss

If Riverside was riding high fresh off their 16-0 takedown of Hughes on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hickman County Bulldogs on Tuesday. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.

Lainie Holbert was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Aubrianna Sego also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Hickman County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-9.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Riverside will square off against rival Lewis County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Hickman County is set to challenge their familiar foe East Hickman County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
