Basketball Recap: Plainfield Wins High-Profile Match Against Brownsburg

On Monday, Plainfield faced Brownsburg in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Plainfield Quakers walked away with a 57-47 victory over the Brownsburg Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 63-42 back in November of 2024.

Plainfield found their leader in sophomore Hannah Menser, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 17 points in addition to five boards and four blocks. Menser is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Bryleigh Todd was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Plainfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brownsburg only racked up six assists.

Despite the loss, Brownsburg still got an impressive performance from Avery Gordon, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri Brown, who posted six points along with eight boards and four steals.

The win made it two in a row for Plainfield and bumps their season record up to 12-5. As for Brownsburg, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-4.

Plainfield has already played their next matchup (against Bloomington North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Brownsburg will welcome Pike at 7:30 p.m. on January 21st.
