Volleyball Recap: Monte Vista Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

Monte Vista won the last time they faced Dougherty Valley and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Mustangs came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 3-1.

Monte Vista had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-11, 25-13, 25-21.

Monte Vista found their leader in freshman Scarlett Darmstadt, who had six aces and three digs. Those six aces set a new season-high mark for Darmstadt. Avery Jernstedt also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Monte Vista was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 19 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Monte Vista's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6. As for Dougherty Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-10.

Monte Vista didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Foothill on the 18th. As for Dougherty Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Livermore on the 18th.
