Preview: Mount Notre Dame vs. Bishop Hartley Hawks
After two games on the road, Mount Notre Dame is heading back home. They will take on the Bishop Hartley Hawks at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Mount Notre Dame's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches.
Mount Notre Dame put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 60-34 margin over Dixie Heights. Given Mount Notre Dame's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked tenth in Ohio, while Dixie Heights is ranked 59th in Kentucky), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mount Notre Dame's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Laila Harrison, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Kailee Bransford was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Bishop Hartley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their 14th straight loss. They fell 43-31 to Watkins Memorial.
Mount Notre Dame has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Bishop Hartley, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-16.
Mount Notre Dame came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop Hartley in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, sneaking past 41-38. Will Mount Notre Dame repeat their success, or does Bishop Hartley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
