Recap: Wooddale Cardinals vs. Trezevant Bears
The Wooddale Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 57-26 defeat at the hands of Trezevant. Wooddale was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-12.
Trezevant got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Courtney Chaffin out in front who almost dropped a triple-double on 15 points, nine rebounds, and ten blocks. That makes it three consecutive games in which Chaffin has scored at least 25% of Trezevant's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cordarrel York, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Wooddale's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Trezevant, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wooddale will be home for the holidays to greet Westwood at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Westwood's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests. Trezevant will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Crosstown at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Crosstown is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
