Recap: Hollins Royals vs. Dunedin Falcons

If the Hollins Royals were riding high off their 58-30 takedown of the Admiral Farragut BlueJackets back in December of 2023, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hollins took a serious blow against Dunedin on Wednesday, falling 48-17. Having soared to a lofty 58 points in the game before, Hollins couldn't push the score so high this time.

Hollins' loss came despite strong showings from Rebecka Williams and Summer Morgan. Williams scored two points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Morgan scored eight points along with six rebounds and four steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her.

Even though they lost, Hollins were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dunedin only pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.

Leading Dunedin to victory were Haylee Dones and Trinity Clincy. Dones scored 15 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Clincy scored 13 points along with nine steals and six assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Dones has scored at least 25% of Dunedin's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Patterson, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.

Hollins' defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Dunedin, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-9.

Hollins won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Indian Rocks Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Indian Rocks Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Dunedin won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Countryside at 7:45 p.m. on January 11th. Countryside is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
