Softball Game Preview: Shelton Highclimbers vs. Aberdeen Bobcats

Shelton is 1-8 against Aberdeen since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Highclimbers will host the Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. Shelton has given up an average of 11.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Shelton is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Tumwater, falling 25-3.

Meanwhile, Aberdeen faced Tumwater in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Bobcats fell just short of the Thunderbirds by a score of 2-1. That makes it the first time this season the Bobcats have let down their home crowd.

Lilly Camp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Scotlyn Lecomte was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Audree Gaddis, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base.

Aberdeen's defeat dropped their record down to 13-2. As for Shelton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
