League recap: Ohio County loses to Hopkinsville, extends losing streak

Graves County led 5A District 1 in scoring this week by notching 38 points on Christian County. Cody Crider ran for 259 yards and caught 1 pass for 14 yards during the win.

The Eagles' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Peyton Puckett threw for 149 and 2 touchdowns and Jake Williams had 80 yards receiving. On the ground Crider contributed 259 yards. Schuyler Vowell helped Graves County's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 11 yards.

Crider was a force in the backfield as Graves County topped the Colonels.

Crider was a passing and rushing force as Lance Gregory's team defeated Christian County. Crider's favorite target this week was Williams, who caught 4 passes for 80 yards.

Crider was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Joey Marshall added to the ground attack by rushing for 30 yards.

Graves County's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Puckett has thrown for 1,621 yards and 19 touchdowns this season, while Williams has 34 catches for 569 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Graves County takes on second place Hopkinsville. Last week, the Eagles beat Steve Lovelace's team, while Hopkinsville topped Ohio County.

Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Graves County's Williams goes up against the Tigers' Anthony Williams.

The Eagles' Crider needs only 22 yards against Hopkinsville next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 125 carries Crider has put up 978 yards this year.

Two of the top units in 5A District 1 will face off this week when Graves County takes on Marc Adam Clark's team. The Eagles' offense has scored 293 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Tigers have allowed only 170 on the year.

Next week's game between Graves County and Hopkinsville will feature a good passing match up as Puckett will test his arm against Williams' defensive ability.

One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Eagles and the Tigers face off next week.

There should be lots of points scored when Graves County and Hopkinsville face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Eagles comes in having scored 293 this season, while the Tigers have scored 243. Graves County scored 38 points last week as it defeated the Colonels.

Hopkinsville made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,385 from 8,020. The advance stemmed from a 34-7 victory over the Eagles last week.
