Softball Game Preview: Paulding Panthers vs. Bryan Golden Bears

Paulding is 0-3 against Bryan since March of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. Paulding will face off against Bryan at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Paulding is headed out to face Bryan after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Paulding skirted past Continental 7-5. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Tia Mendez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Mendez was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Brooklynn Bakle was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Meanwhile, Bryan owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They came out on top against Fairview by a score of 5-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Bears.

Fairview's batters probably weren't too happy with Thea Staten, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (she gave up zero walks).

At the plate, Bryan saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mackenzie Blevins, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Paulding might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Bryan in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can Paulding avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
