Softball Recap: Mcqueen Falls Short Against Ranked Douglas

McQueen faced Douglas in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Lancers fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 10-9. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 10-1 loss on April 9th.

Vanessa Bein was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Guber, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.

This is the second loss in a row for McQueen and nudges their season record down to 15-13. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Douglas, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 19-7.

Looking ahead, McQueen will challenge Reed at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Lancers will need to watch out since the Raiders have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups. As for Douglas, they will square off against Spanish Springs at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 4.1, the Cougars 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
