Softball Game Preview: Southern Guilford Storm vs. Ledford Panthers

Southern Guilford hasn't had much luck against Ledford recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Southern Guilford Storm will take on the Ledford Panthers at 6:00 p.m.

Southern Guilford fell victim to Rockingham County and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Cougars, falling 11-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Storm's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Ledford had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victor by a 16-1 margin over East Davidson on Tuesday.

Leah Leonard made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cassidy Murray, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grace Henry, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
