Basketball Recap: Vandalia Christian Comes Up Short

Vandalia Christian lost against Gospel Light Christian last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Vandalia Christian Vikings took a 51-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gospel Light Christian. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Vandalia Christian still got an impressive performance from Jaida Steele, who posted 17 points. That was a full 43.6% of Vandalia Christian's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Brittany Guido was another key player, putting up six points.

Gospel Light Christian was led to victory by Maggie Jo Church and Brooklyn Miller. Church dropped a double-double with 18 points and 23 rebounds, while Miller went 8 for 19 to rack up 22 points and five steals. Church has become a key player for Gospel Light Christian: the team is 13-1 when she posts at least ten boards, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ali Phillips, who earned six points and five rebounds.

Vandalia Christian's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Gospel Light Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.

Vandalia Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 42-25 defeat against Union Grove Christian on the 4th. As for Gospel Light Christian, they have also already played their next match, a 53-40 loss against Triad Baptist Christian Academy on the 7th.
