Recap: Riverwalk Academy Lions vs. Comenius Knights
After soaring to 63 points the game before, the Riverwalk Academy Lions were a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They took a serious blow against Comenius, falling 85-23. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Riverwalk Academy has scored all season.
It was another big night for Donovin Jones, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and five assists for Comenius. That's the first time this season that Jones pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Priester, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Riverwalk Academy's defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.9 points per game. As for Comenius, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverwalk Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on McBee at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024. Comenius won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against South Charlotte T at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. South Charlotte T is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
