Football Recap: Northwestern Skates Past St. Croix Falls with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwestern). They breezed past the St. Croix Falls Saints to the tune of 41-0 on Friday. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Tigers had established a 34-point advantage.

Bryer Burkhart was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 51 yards on only six carries, and also caught one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Northwestern was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 313 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 276 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Northwestern didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Ethan Harms.

Northwestern's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points over those games. As for St. Croix Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Northwestern and St. Croix Falls should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Tigers will square off against Cumberland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (94 vs. 332). Meanwhile, St. Croix Falls (ranked 89th) will meet Spooner (ranked 285th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
