Volleyball Recap: Durango Demons vs. Montrose Red Hawks
After flying high against Grand Junction last Saturday, Durango came back down to earth. The Demons fell 3-1 to the Montrose Red Hawks on Thursday. The Demons have struggled against the Red Hawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
The final score came out to 25-19, 23-25, 25-18, 25-16.
Devyn Edwards paced Durango's offense, picking up 18 kills. Edwards got some help from Indie Shows and her 38 assists.
Amaya Potter had an outrageously good game for Montrose as she had 22 digs and six assists. Those 22 digs gave Potter a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Simo, who had four digs and three aces.
Durango's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Montrose, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Durango will face off against Alamosa at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Montrose, they will challenge University at 12:00 p.m. on October 4.
