Preview: Knightstown Panthers vs. Union County Patriots
Knightstown is 2-8 against Union County since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Knightstown Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Union County Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Knightstown will be strutting in after a victory while Union County will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Saturday, Knightstown's game was all tied up 25-25 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They managed a 59-53 victory over Waldron. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Knightstown.
Michael Roberson had a dynamite game for Knightstown, scoring 38 points along with 6 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Roberson has scored at least 25% of Knightstown's points. Brayden McDaniel was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Meanwhile, Union County had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a hard 54-39 fall against Connersville last Wednesday. Union County found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 11 to 4 on offense.
Union County's loss came about despite a quality game from Gavin Davis, who scored 14 points along with 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Mason Stewart, who scored 6 points along with 5 rebounds.
Knightstown's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Union County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Knightstown didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Union County in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 56-51 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Union County's Joshua Klein, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 10 rebounds.
