It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Olympia had no problem doing just that on Friday. They had just enough and edged the Glacier Peak Grizzlies out 3-2.
Sami Potvin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Olympia's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sydnee Chandler-Trent, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
On Glacier Peak's side, Maya Mesa was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Mesa was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Olympia's victory bumped their record up to 18-4. As for Glacier Peak, their loss dropped their record down to 15-10.
Olympia will challenge Jackson at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Jackson will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Olympia surely won't give up without a fight. Glacier Peak does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
